An astronaut tunic made from an ironing board cover – so it was already hemmed – I just needed to add the collar and felt emblems.

The helmet was from a balloon papermache project with the kids. We made a few ‘shells’ than coated them with scrap office paper so they didn’t need painting. The visors are plastic bottles attached with screw caps. I wish I’d made the helmets bigger because they would have had more use if they hadn’t been outgrown so fast.
The bottle backpack used gold foil from crisp packets stuffed inside to prevent the need for paint and some duster felt scraps for the flames. It was designed to be deconstructed when no longer needed.
