Alphabet mat rework

I made this alphabet mat a few years ago with my daughter. The base is an old beach towel and we sewed felt pockets containing felt objects corresponding with each letter. We used up lots of embroidery thread we had got from a local scrapstore. This original version rolled up into a bag so that it could be stored away. I made from my daughters scarf which she said she’d no longer wear – and I just can’t resist rainbows.

Now that we have more space I’m making it into a wall hanging so that hopefully it gets a bit more use.

I cut off the top and bottom and rearranged the pockets. The little felt objects needed a little tlc and I strengthened some of the shapes with pipe cleaners.
